Summary

Emilia Parr is the executive officer of the Sacramento. Young and theatrical, and thrilled at her first appointment as executive officer, she is undaunted by the prospect. Long years at the same assignment, Deep Space 6, has made her an accidentally-adept diplomat and she is overly keen to demonstrate her competence.

Appearance

Parr is attractive, athletic and toned, her build reflecting a lifetime of Starfleet training combined with an interest in the physicality of theatre since she was a young girl. She is not overly muscular but is fit, strong, and agile, capable of handling herself in combat if necessary. Her brown eyes are expressive and give the impression of curiosity and kindness. Parr’s smile, bright and genuine, is usually accompanied by a slight tilt of her head – a signature expression that hints at warmth tempered by perception.

Personality

Despite the demands and drama of a life in Starfleet, Parr never loses sight of the joy in life. She has a playful, mischievous sense of humour, often teasing colleagues and finding ways to bring levity to the most stressful situations. Whether organising impromptu theatre nights, besting a friend in a holodeck challenge, or charming her way through tense diplomatic talks, she radiates a natural joie de vivre.

Parr hides a deeply romantic mindset. She believes in the power of connection – not just in diplomacy, but across lifeforms. She is drawn to people who challenge her and who view the galaxy in unconventional ways. Though she has had meaningful relationships, she has never been one to settle easily – her passion for exploration, space and of herself, keeps her looking forward.

History

Early Life and Starfleet Academy (2366-2388)

Emilia Parr, born in Spain, was the adopted daughter of Javier and Andrés Parr, both literature professors at the Complutense University of Madrid, who themselves had met while doctoral students at Oxford University. Her childhood was filled with love, surrounded by warmth and the rich culture of one of the most ancient universities in Spain. Emilia spent her youth wandering through the vibrant barrio of La Latina, visiting museums, galleries, and being ‘adopted’ by the various curators of the city. Her fathers, passionate about culture and education, instilled in her a love for the arts, often taking her to the theatre, poetry readings, and intellectual gatherings.

Parr’s years at Starfleet Academy were transformative. She excelled in linguistics, diplomacy, and xeno-cultural studies, a natural progression from her multilingual upbringing in Madrid. Her ability to communicate across cultures made her a standout in first-contact protocol and interstellar relations, though she was equally determined to push herself in tactical and command training. Long hours were spent perfecting phaser drills, shuttle piloting, and astrophysics, but whenever she could find a moment for herself, she escaped into the world of the theatre.

The theatres of San Francisco, with their rich artistic community, became her second home. Amid the pressures of cadet life, she found solace in amateur dramatics, performing in small productions scattered across the city. Whether it was a staging of Shakespeare in the Presidio or an experimental play in a tiny, dimly lit venue in Castro, she embraced every role with the same passion she applied to her Starfleet studies.

Deep Space 6 (2388-2402)

After graduating from Starfleet Academy, Parr was assigned Deep Space 6 as an operations officer. A hub for trade and diplomacy on the Romulan border, DS6 was the perfect proving ground for an ambitious young officer keen to further her understanding of alien cultures.

Her role required quick thinking, adaptability, an understanding of interstellar relations and a nuance for interacting with the Romulan Empire. Whether she was juggling unexpected supply shortages, negotiating docking rights for an independent freighter, or balancing power across the station’s systems, Parr became known as an effortlessly capable operations officer. Eventually promoted to chief of operations, Parr’s intellectual interest in linguistics, xeno-cultural studies, and diplomacy allowed her to be more than just an operational leader – she became a key figure in DS6’s political and diplomatic missions.

Rookie XO and the Sacramento (2402-)

During a delicate mission to negotiate the amnesty request of several Romulan freighters, Parr first met Mike Ayres, then the executive officer of the USS Lion. Over the course of several years the Lion would call into DS6, and through these gradual interactions Parr and Ayres formed a strong professional relationship and a close friendship. When Ayres was given a command of his own, the USS Sacramento, he offered Parr the position of executive officer.
