Raised in a family steeped in military service, Rynka followed her heritage into the Cardassian military at an early age, where she served as an officer and engineer.
A decade after the end of the Federation-Cardassian War she commissioning into Starfleet as an engineer. She’s currently assigned to the USS San Clemente, an engineering variant of the class. She joined the vessels compliment in 2402 as engineering specialist overseeing off-ship maintenance and repair.
Appearance
She possesses the typical Cardassian features, high ridged forehead, dark grey skin. Her facial ridges are a sharp, angular look. She carries a strong, proud posture.
A single, thin scar traces her jawline, a reminder of her younger days as a military officer, when she was caught in a skirmish during during the Dominion War.
Personality
An individual of great internal discipline, with a calm and calculating demeanour. As a Cardassian, she values efficiency, order, and strategy, and she is known for her ability to remain focused even in the most intense of situations. She does sometimes appear cold and detached.
Her experience in military and engineering roles has given her an ability to resolve complex issues under extreme pressure. She has the rare ability to think several steps ahead, which allows her to design long-term maintenance solutions and emergency repairs with precision.
She lost her first husband and two children at the end of the Federation-Dominion war. She does not blame the Federation or allies for their deaths though in the years that followed struggled with the celebrations of victory by those allies. Her pride can cloud her judgement, especially when faced with situations where her Cardassian heritage is challenged.
She remarried during the post-war period and currently has one daughter, her Starfleet career took precedence over the expansion of the family further though they have moved to Deep Space 17 in 2402 to be near to her while assigned to the USS San Clemente.
History
Early Life (2345-2365)
Born and raised in Lakarian City on Cardassia Prime, her upbringing was marked by a focus on duty and honour, though she harboured a fascination with the technical side of military operations.
Military Career (2365-2375)
Training at the Cardassian military Academy from 2355, Rather than following her peers into direct combat roles, Rynka chose to pursue engineering, quickly rising through the ranks as an exceptional engineer. Her main focus being ground based facilities but assisted in the maintenance of Starbases and outposts through her Career.
in 2375 she was stationed with her Husband and children in Lakarian City. During the Battle of Cardassian she was assigned off planet to assist with the defence of the system. Upon hearing the fate of Lakarian city she joined the rebels in assisting the Federation in liberating her home world. Afterwards she found out her two children and her husband were killed when the Dominion bombarded Lakarian City in 2375.
Post-War Reconstruction (2375-2385)
Cardassia Prime was devastated at the end of the Federation-Cardassian war, Korren found herself at a crossroads. Despite the obvious grief, she chose not to succumb to bitterness. She resigned her commission in the Cardassian military and redirected her focus toward reconstruction efforts on Cardassia Prime. working tirelessly to restore infrastructure and vital systems throughout the devastated cities. Her engineering expertise and innate leadership were quickly recognised. She remarried in 2383 and and welcomed her daughter into a fragile but hopeful new chapter in 2384.
Starfleet Service (2385-2402)
A decade after the end of the Cardassian War, at 40 years old, she commissioned as an Engineering Officer in Starfleet (2385). Seeing it as a chance to rebuild the galaxy, to work for the greater good, and to use her engineering expertise in service of peace. After attending the Academy she was promoted to Ensign in 2389 and she served within Starfleet’s Corps of Engineers for most of her career.
By drawing on her deep background in military engineering and crisis response, she quickly distinguished herself as a remarkable engineer. Her approach was marked by the same calm, calculated efficiency she deployed during Cardassia’s recovery, raising her reputation within Starfleet as a trusted member of the team.
USS San Clemente (2402-Present)
Assigned to the USS San Clemente to head up off-ship Engineering Operations. An Engineering Variant of the Class of starship means a wide range of complex and intricate tasks come their way. As such the Chief Engineer and Head of Engineering positions were split to ensure the continued operation of the vessel while on mission.
She is ideally suited to this position, having spend the latter part of her life rebuilding Cardassia following the war and occupation by the Dominion.
