Summary
A former Starfleet officer, Dan Morrow now makes a living on the shadier side of society… A skilled pilot and security specialist, Morrow has travelled to the Delta Quadrant as part of the diverse civilian contingent which accompanied Task Force 38. As captain of the light freighter Palomino and co-owner and proprietor of Dante’s Roadhouse – a bar, grill and night-spot aboard Mithrar Anchorage, his focus is to make his fortune whilst staying out of trouble as much as possible…
History
Background
Dan Morrow was born in Manchester, England in 2351 to Terence and Amanda Morrow. The eldest child of five, he grew up idolising his father who served for most of his adult life as Quartermaster aboard the Merchant Vessel Atlas. Although Terence was absent for a good portion of his son’s formative years, Dan grew up in awe of him and counted the days until his father was due to return home with new stories of life in outer space. At the age of eighteen, his greatest wish was fulfilled when his application to attend Starfleet Academy was accepted.
Specialising in the Tactical / Security branch, Cadet Morrow threw himself into his studies, voraciously consuming vast amounts of knowledge about his chosen area, coupling this with a natural academic and practical ability.
Graduating in 2372 as valedictorian of his class, Ensign Morrow was assigned as a junior tactical officer aboard USS Galaxy. During his time aboard the Galaxy-class starship, Morrow met and fell in love with a young operations ensign named Sarah Malone and later that year, they were married. Soon afterwards Morrow was transferred to take up the position of Tactical Officer aboard the Akira-class USS Appalachia leaving Sarah aboard Galaxy.
In 2373, Morrow’s combat skills were tested to the full as Appalachia took part in the Battle of Sector 001 during the Borg incursion of that year. Following that engagement and after being decorated for his part in the battle, in early 2374 Morrow was promoted and transferred to the Excelsior-class USS Hood under Captain Robert DeSoto. At the same time, his wife Sarah received a promotion and took up the post of Assistant Chief Operations Officer aboard USS Valley Forge.
Towards the end of that year, both vessels were involved in the First Battle of Chin’toka against Dominion forces in Cardassian territory. Early in the battle, Hood’s chief tactical officer was killed, forcing Morrow to temporarily take her place for the remainder of the engagement. Before the battle was over, Morrow was forced to look on helplessly as Valley Forge was heavily damaged by Cardassian orbital weapons platforms.
Following some time away from Starfleet during where Morrow cared for his wife as she recovered from the injuries incurred at Chin’toka, he eventually returned to service aboard USS Hood in 2375 and was promoted full lieutenant and Chief Tactical & Security Officer the following year.
Morrow was promoted again in 2378, continuing to serve in the role of Chief Tactical & Security Officer for several years aboard Appalachia and then Trafalgar. 2384 saw his appointment as Executive Officer aboard the Steamrunner class USS Delaware.
Following the attack on Mars of 2385, Morrow resigned his Starfleet commission and began a career as a trader, smuggler and mercenary. In 2399, he travelled to the Delta Quadrant and established Dante’s Roadhouse, a bar, grill and nightclub aboard the Turei station Mithrar Anchorage.
Personal Life
Following his divorce in 2378, Morrow compensated for the ‘gap’ in his personal life by engaging in a series of short term relationships with various women – a lifestyle that was noted and discussed during his bi-annual Starfleet psychological reviews.
When off duty, Morrow is a keen student of military history and also enjoys watching old Earth movies – especially classic black and white films noir. Other hobbies include horse riding, a fascination with ancient weapons and re-enacting historical battles on the holodeck.
