Rysana Vahl

Rysana Vahl is the USS Achana’s nurse. Other crewmembers often joke that Rysana has a split personality; when treating a patient, she’s as professional, compassionate, and driven as one could hope for an RN, but off duty, she’s known for being irreverent, snarky, and slightly boorish.

There is no crewmember aboard the Achana that more fully embodies a work-life personality divide. The “real” Lieutenant Vahl is well-liked by her crewmates for her straightforward, irreverent, and darkly snarky temperament, while on-call Vahl is easily able to hide every rougher aspect of her personality.

Vahl is aware that many cultures consider her to be quite attractive, which bothered her to no end in her younger years and still does to some degree today. As a result of this, she avoids anyone she considers to be shallow or superficial like a plague, and intentionally seeks out friendships with quirkier people. She quickly developed a good rapport with the goofy and passionate science officer Vic Travers, and can frequently be found playing pool with him in the Achana’s lounge. She developed a bit of a crush on him, but did not act on it for a number of factors even before she learned of Vic’s asexuality.

In addition to her irreverence, Lieutenant Vahl is well-known for having a staggeringly high tolerance for alcohol, and has an encyclopedic level of knowledge about the intricacies of Saurian Brandy.
