Elyssia Rel

Ensign Elyssia Rel currently serves as a smallcraft pilot aboard Archanis Station. Formerly the Chief Flight Control Officer of the USS Ingenuity and a member of the Serenity/Ingenuity Hazard Team, she requested the change of assignment as a way to slow down and focus on herself after the loss of the USS Serenity during the Vaadwaur crisis of April 2402.

Elyssia finds both strength and struggles in the experiences of Rel, a symbiont that went through a rough journey with its last two hosts. Its most recent host, Asteria Rel, was a Fenris Ranger discovered on the verge of death by the USS Allegiance, a patrol ship where Elyssia was serving on her first assignment. Given the state in which they found Rel, and the fact Elyssia was the only unjoined Trill on board, she underwent an emergency joining to save the Rel symbiont. The Rel symbionts prior joining was similarly rushed, prompted when Jaxon Rel succumbed to his injuries after the Second Battle of Chin’toka.

These strengths and struggles have now been compounded with the loss she suffered in April 2402, when the USS Serenity was destroyed during a battle with the Vaadwaur. While it shook every member of the USS Ingenuity‘s crew, a crew that’d bonded closely with its sistership when the two were stranded deep in the Beta Quadrant the year prior, this experience hit her particularly hard due to the fact that her lover, Captain Jake Lewis, had gone down on the Serenity.
