Pell Mellearch

Early Life (2379-2397)

Pell was born in the capital city of the planet Hysperia to two minor Hysperian nobles, Lord Leopold and Lady Ophelia Mellearch. Pell loves Hysperia and took to the Hysperian way of life wholeheartedly from as early as they were able to form an opinion about such things. However, Pell was also quite a rebellious young person. When they were in their pre-teens, they learned of Prince Andarithio Billups’ abdication of the Hysperian throne. This fascinated Pell who had not given too much thought to other ways of life. From there, Pell developed a fascination with space travel, and starships in particular – fast starships, more specifically. They taught themself to fly ships from a young age, first by using holodeck simulations, and then, when they were older, stealing their family’s shuttle craft. 

When they were 16, they crashed the craft – nearly fatally – when they attempted to best their personal record for speed of a single geosynchronous orbit around the planet. From then on, Pell’s parents forbade Pell from flying any craft not on a holodeck. This enraged Pell, and in time decided to go to Starfleet Academy to escape them. To their credit, in the intervening years they studied extremely hard and was accepted, against their parents’ wishes.

Starfleet Academy (2397-2401)

Pell attended the Starfleet Academy Annex Campus on Mellstoxx III. If Pell had been honest with theirself, they didn’t really care about joining Starfleet, so much as the opportunity to fly ships. But, upon reaching the Academy they almost immediately fell in love with the fleet.

Initially they had trouble making friends due to being teased for being from Hysperia, and especially for using Hysperian names for technology such as calling warp engines “dragons-breath” engines. After some particularly brutal bullying, they decided to lie and tell most people they were from Berengaria VII, and learned to call things by their “Starfleet” names.

They excelled at the Academy, becoming an even better pilot, and learned how to be an effective leader, eventually joining the elite Cadet Squadron Bravo.

U.S.S. Alhambra (2401-Present)

Pell was assigned to be Helm Officer of the Alhambra as their first posting out of the Academy.
