Location: Overwatch Station, CO Ready Room
At first Elsie was not sure why Overwatch Station was chosen to host a logistics division. But the more she started to settle in. The more it made sense to her.
In a strange way logistics, deep space telemetry and science exploration all fit under the logistics support division.
The division was responsible for providing support in scientific discoveries within the Talvath Star Cluster. Providing supply parts to the fleet in the remote area of the Talvath Star Cluster area.
Starfleet was eager to send in a fleet of exploration vessels to investigate the Star Cluster. They did not want to go in blindly.
Elsie could appreciate that. For a couple of years she lead the crew of the Paladin on exploration missions. But now she was leading a division, and it’s purpose was not exploration. It was logistics and support.
For Elsie, this was a welcomed change for her. Even though she was in charge of logistics and in charge of the linguistic side of the station. The station was more than just logistical supplies, it also had a science element to it and even though she’d be scaling slightly back on the science component of the station cuz she felt like there were too many leaders and not enough crew that the department needed to be refocused.
She knew that the word “support” was the most important part of the division. The station was designed with the intent that they would be able to do deep space telemetry for the star cluster and to send out new maps and to get the information to starflee so they can send in their explorer vessels to plot and navigate the course.
The station also offered another opportunity even though I couldn’t really hold supplies, it could act as a transportation hub directing their support squadron to different areas to resupply shifts that are on deep space assignment in the area. The way it was explained to her was that they would be a third party courier service. Transport vessels would come out deliver the goods but because of the fact that this was a remote area of space, they weren’t really suited for deep space deliveries service.
Currently she only had one vessel the Paso Robles, to deliver supplies but she had every intention of getting another Starship as soon as she can get approval from Starfleet.
The one current position she was truly missing right now and she knew she needed was a yeoman to help her organize her day, and to make sense of all the chaos that comes with being a division commander and a station Commander. Each one in its own right can make anybody want to pull out their hair, but having both at the same time she definitely needed a yeoman. She had put in a request from Starfleet command to have a yeoman sent to her as soon as possible.
For the moment though she had to do without a yeoman, and she looked at her calendar to see when her next appointment would be normally she would have somebody telling her this and somebody following her around and reminding her to do certain things so now she had to do it all on her own plus run a station plus keep track of the Paso Robles it’s just a bit much just for one person all in their own. She thought when she took the assignment that it would be a piece of cake.
She didn’t realize how much administrative work went into the role, not that she’s complaining it’s just she had to adapt to it now. But it did give her a lot more free time with her kids and didn’t have to worry about being attacked every week so it was kind of refreshing even though a little stressful.
Elsie wasn’t sure why the whole station was recrued, but even though they were adding the logistics element to the station, the primary focus of the station itself would not change. And she already had met with her new DSRTA Director.
Elsie thought she was a little wound up, even for Bajoran she seemed a little on edge. In a sense it seems like she was kind of lost, looking for a purpose or a focus. She wondered if Mika was also trying to cope with the Battle of Frontiers Day.
According to Elsie’s calendar, her next appointment will be with her new first officer. And if he’s punctual he should be coming any second now to the door.
Darrin stopped outside the door, took a deep breath and rang the buzzer. He was looking forward to this assignment. When he found he had been assigned here, he had done some checking around and had heard good things about the captain.
“Enter.” Called out Elsie as she looked towards the door. Her first officer was right on time and she appreciated that. She was a typo officer who didn’t like tardiness.
Darrin walked in and approached the desk, standing at attention. “Lieutenant Commander Greenwood, reporting for duty, Commodore.”
“Commander, thank you for coming on a short notice. I realized you just received your orders two days ago but I will admit you made pretty good progress getting here in a timely manner.” Elsie said with a big grin on her face, and she was mildly impressed by that.
“I pride myself on being punctual.” Darrin admitted. “If someone makes an appointment to see you, it is only respectful to show up on time.”
“Starfleet has given us a short window, they want this station fully operational. the old crew move to a new station so now we have to figure out everything and get her up and running as soon as possible. They want the array back online within the week if not sooner. That’s going to be your first priority and task, I have the Paso Robles coming back from her current mission. I got to send her out again. The station really can’t handle supplies so I need to get them back here in time to pick up the next delivery and send it out.” Elsie said to him, realizing she said a lot in the short amount of time.
“Not a problem ma’am, that’s easy enough. My understanding is the relay is pretty much ready to go, just got to get the new crew board in her department chief.” Darrin said, wondering what they need department chief of DSRTA was like. All he knew that she was Bajoran.
“I really do think you can get it up and running by?” Elsie asked. The sooner the better, cuz then we get Starfleet off her back.
“Assuming everything is in working order probably within the hour. Assuming we have enough personnel I won’t know until I go down there.” Darrin said, making a mental note to himself that his next stop would be DSRTA Office area.
“I’m at the new Director yesterday, she needed to meet with me today actually she’s my next appointment after you. So if you want to stick around for a few minutes we can meet her together?”’
“I can stick around, I’m at your disposal.” Darrin suggested to Elsie. He was her first officer, what kind of first officer would he be if he wasn’t available to assist his commanding officer.
The two continued to talk for a while, until the scene fades away.

Elsie, Darrin and Mika have just moved past the introduction stages, week was standing at the position of attention and Elsie’s ready room. “At ease Lieutenant, please have a seat.” Elsie called out.
“Yes ma’am.” Mika said wondering why the first officer was in the meeting, but at the moment she didn’t say anything.
“Were you able to meet with the chief of security this morning and get your clearances?” Elsie asked, she has scheduled appointment for Mika to do so.
“I was able to meet with the security chief, and yes giving me the correct permissions or so he says.” Mika said, she had no reason to doubt him but she also had it tested her new access levels.
“May I ma’am?” Darrin asked, he wanted to talk with Mika about their assignment.
“Of course.” Elsie said, this was his time to shine and she wanted to see what he could do.
“Lieutenant you and I have about an hour once we leave this meeting to get the array and Order.* Darrin said as he waited to see how she responded.
“That’ll be cutting it very close, even with my crew there’s so many redundancy checks we have to go through.” Mika pointed out to to Darrin.
“Typically we shine the best when we’re under pressure, and I think this would be a good opportunity for you to shine.” Darrin insisted to Mika.
“Yes sir.” Simply said Mika. She thought to herself the task would hard to complete in one hour.”
“Starfleet Cartography wants that’s the conduct more scans of the area. They’re talking about sitting out some exploration vessels to the area. So the more information we can give them now the better opportunity or explorer captains will have.” Elsie pointed out to Mika.
“I understand, we’ll get the array online as soon as possible. My crews are even trained on this array so it shouldn’t take us long.” Mika pointed out to her captain, the only thing she wasn’t certain is their ability or skill set. She assumed that they were all capable and qualified. She hoped they didn’t come back to bite her.
“Well in that case I won’t keep you, but make sure you can get that array operations soon as possible. If you get it done before an hour I might
have a special little surprise for you.” Elsie said with a big grin on her face.
