Wong sat in the lone Captains chair of his new ship. It sat in a solitary position on a raised step in the middle of the bridge. Directly in front of him was the joint Helm/Operations stations that were long slightly curving consoles that spread out from a shared central base that had auxiliary panels for secondary tests in between the legs of the 2 operators. To his right, from front to back were the Comms, Tactical, and an auxiliary station. To his left sat the Engineering, Science, and another auxiliary/mission console. It was certainly lonelier than the 3 seat command area in front of the bridge railing of the Cali.

‘Atleast these cool big armrest consoles swivel with the chair.’ he thought to himself.

He grabbed the top padd from handy dandy padd holder/holster thingy that his new chair came equipped with and began reading-

Bridge Stations, Alpha shift…

He finished scanning the shift rotations that the department heads and his XO had come up with. It all looked good, so he signed off on it. Wong then sat there for a minute. Not moving immediately on to the next thing he had to take care of, not thinking about who he needed to give orders to, not even pondering how cool his new ship was. He just enjoyed the moment, listening to the random chatter, the beep, boops, chimes, and notifications.

After another moment Wong started tapping his foot. Something was missing, a sense of purpose, Wong realized with all the commotion and non-stop activities, he hadn’t informed the crew of their assigned mission, or the promotion list he had received the day before. He had originally planned to master the crew in the mess hall, which was just large enough to fit all off duty personnel, but with the CC’s missing man and the need to recover the Blythe, they hadn’t had the time.

“Mr. Ingram, are there any critical operations going on that would prevent any of the crew from hearing an all hands address?” Wong asked Vaughn.

“No, sir, the board is green.”

“Thank, you.” Wong tapped in the command on the armrest that opened a channel that would pipe the message through the ships PA system and each crewmembers comm badge.

“All hands, this is the Captain… I hope everyone is getting settled in and enjoying having their own quarters. I’d like to announce the following promotion, effectively immediately. LCdr Mee IH is promoted to the rank of Commander, Lt’s JG Lasage and Singh are promoted to full Lt. And Ensign Podivinski is promoted to the rank of Lt. JG. Congratulations to them all. Now, I’d also like to take a minute and share our mission with you. Starfleet has given us orders to assist with the recovery of the Blythe, and to then provide tactical support(combat) to a few other vessels in the Expanse before returning to Framheim. From there, we will set forth on a 2 month long patrol that will take us back through the conduit and then along the Tholian, Cardassian and Breen Frontiers we will then stop and reprovision ourselves at Starbase 72 before embarking on a journey to the near of the Delta Quadrant where will take part in Starfleets ongoing diplomatic outreach and exploratory operations in that region. Nearly 2500 light years stand between us and our eventually new duty station. But we have one of the finest new vessels in the fleet and the best crew a Captain could ask for. That being said, let’s get our mission in the expanse here finished as efficiently as possible. I’ve scheduled us for a few days of shoreleave when we arrive back at Framheim. Until then, focus on your duties, bridge out.”

A few seconds after Wong took his thumb off the button that activated the transmitters mic the chime for another all hands address sounded.

“Ahem, *squeek*, this thing on? K. This is the XO, the information the CO has just shared with you omitted one small piece of information.” Mee IH said over the comm from his aquatic quarters.

Wong slowly moved his hand over to the armrest, ready to cut off the transmission if the XO was losing his mind or trying to start a mutiny.

“The list of promotions that was announced was missing one. Starfleet has also seen fit to promote Commander Daniel Wong to the rank of Captain. That is all, carry on. This is the XO.” Mee IH closed the channel after sounding like some submariner of a bygone age.
