Perched on the volatile frontier between Federation space and the unpredictable expanse near Kzinti territory, Deep Space Eleven (DS-11) is a Copernicus-class starbase serving as the primary command and coordination hub for the Ulysses Exploratory Cruiser Division.
DS-11 plays a critical role in securing the Federation’s northernmost border. The station facilitates deep-space patrols, forward diplomacy, and irregular response operations throughout the Kzinti Sector, the Typhon Expanse, and beyond. Its modular design supports long-duration deployments, rapid starship resupply, and joint operations with Starfleet Intelligence and the Federation Diplomatic Corps.
Commanded by Captain Leland J. Maddox, Deep Space 11 stands as a shield and sentinel at the edge of Federation space. Serving as the operational heart of the Ulysses Exploratory Cruiser Division, the station coordinates patrols, diplomacy, and irregular operations across the Kzinti Sector. Maddox is supported by a sharp, often combustible senior staff that includes Fleet Captain James C. MacLeod, who maintains his flag aboard the station as division commander, as well as Captain Steven Tancredi (Division Chief of Staff) and Captain Richard Wellborn (Strategic Operations Liaison Kzinti Sector). DS-11 is as politically fraught as it is tactically and strategically vital to Fourth Fleet and Federation interests.
