USS Al-Batani is an Excelsior-II-class heavy cruiser assigned as the tactical and rapid-response element of the Fourth Fleet’s Hypatia Division. Continuing a long and proud legacy, she is the third vessel to bear the proud Al-Batani name, made famous as a former posting of the legendary Kathryn Janeway. Representing a contemporary and versatile upgrade to the iconic Excelsior-class starships of yesteryear, she is an adaptable ship taking on a path of her own in these challenging times, operating in some of the most dangerous areas of the galaxy.

Looking to make a name for themselves in the annals of history, the crew are a mixture of fresh-faced youngsters excelling in their fields of study, and wily veterans looking for an opportunity to cement their legacies. With the ship currently operating out of the Shackleton Expanse, she is tasked with traversing an area of space ripe for scientific exploration and missions of a first-contact nature.

The stories of Hypatia Division are rated 2-2-2 for mature subject matter, including some moderate violence, language and sexual content.

Hypatia Research Cruiser Division

With the fall of the Shroud, Hypatia Division operates out of Framheim Station in the Shackleton Expanse, tasked with flying the Starfleet flag in some of the region’s most tumultuous areas, beginning with a mission to tackle a violent, expansionist species known as the Draxan Imperium.

“Your new commanding officer will be Captain Noli Auru.” Silence gripped the observation lounge as the yellow cursor blinked at the end of the message emblazoned on the wall mounted display. Prenar regarded each officer around the table closely while they tried to make sense of what they had [...]

The Peace We Keep

IKS Mok’tal, USS Al-Batani, USS Cardenas, USS Hypatia and USS Wasp

Most Klingon warships would be, at the very least, frustrated that they’d been essentially allocated to babysitting a bunch of Starfleet vessels on scientific duties. Where was the glory in watching sensor screens and sitting around for someone to come to you? The silence was maddening, [...]

The Peace We Keep

IKS Mok’tal, USS Al-Batani, USS Cardenas, USS Hypatia and USS Wasp

Burning rays from the system’s star beat upon the dunes of Nareen’s surface, heating the sand to such an extent that the heat permeated the rubber soles of the boots that trudged through the mounds. If one stood around too long they were at risk of more than burnt feet, though. Dehydration was [...]
